From Ren'Py
The Ren'Py Visual Novel Engine
There have been more than 110 games made with Ren'Py.
The best way to see Ren'Py in action is to download some of them.

Senior Year was the first fully voiced Ren'Py game.

Magical Boutique was the first Ren'Py-based Sim-game, demonstrating the power behind a python-based engine.
Ren'Py is a free engine that helps you make visual novels and dating sims, computer-based stories involving words, pictures, and sounds. Its script language makes creating visual novels easy and efficient, while advanced creators can customize and extend it using Python. Every Ren'Py game supports all the navigation and interface features players expect, allowing the creator to focus on telling his or her story. Ren'Py is open source, and is free to use with commercial and non-commercial games under any license. Ren'Py games run on
Windows 2000+,
Mac OS X 10.4+, and
Linux x86 without requiring any other software, making them accessible to a wide variety of players.

Although not Ren'Py-specific, the OELVN Community Wiki is a good place to start when looking for resources (character art, background art, music, fonts, etc.) to use in your game.
